The compact tablet starts at ₹82,900 for the Wi-Fi model, with pre-orders scheduled to open on October 28 and sales beginning on November 6, 2026.
The new model brings a major display upgrade to Apple’s smallest tablet, alongside improved performance, faster wireless connectivity and water and dust resistance.
It is designed for users who want a portable device for reading, entertainment, gaming, creative work and productivity while travelling.
Apple iPad Mini 2026 Price in India
Apple has introduced the new iPad mini in three storage configurations: 128GB, 256GB and 512GB. The prices differ according to storage capacity and connectivity options.
The Wi-Fi model with 128GB storage starts at ₹82,900, while the 256GB variant costs ₹94,900. The top-end 512GB Wi-Fi model is priced at ₹1,18,900.
Buyers who need mobile connectivity can choose the Wi-Fi + Cellular version, which starts at ₹1,00,900.
Students and eligible education customers can get the tablet at a starting price of ₹76,900 under Apple’s education pricing.
The final price depends on the selected configuration and applicable eligibility conditions.
The tablet will be available in Midnight and Starlight colour options. Customers can place pre-orders from October 28, while retail availability is scheduled to begin on November 6.
Apple iPad Mini 2026 Display and Design
The Apple iPad Mini 2026 features an 8.5-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display, replacing the LCD screen used in the previous generation.
The larger panel delivers deeper blacks, improved contrast and more vibrant colours, making it suitable for watching videos, reading digital books and editing photos.
Apple has reduced the display bezels by 24% to accommodate the bigger screen while retaining the tablet’s compact overall footprint.
The display supports a peak brightness of up to 1,200 nits and a contrast ratio of 2,000,000:1.
A nano-texture display option is also available on the 256GB and 512GB configurations to reduce glare and reflections in bright environments.
This could be useful for people who frequently work outdoors or use the tablet under strong lighting.
The device measures just 5.4mm in thickness and comes with an IP67 rating for water and dust resistance.
This offers protection under specified laboratory conditions, although it does not make the tablet completely waterproof.
A20 Pro Chip and AI Features
The new iPad mini is powered by Apple’s A20 Pro chip, manufactured using a 2-nanometre process.
The processor is designed to improve performance across everyday tasks, graphics-intensive applications and AI-powered workloads.
According to Apple, the new chip delivers up to 60% faster multithreaded CPU performance, up to 2.7 times faster graphics performance and up to 4.5 times faster AI performance compared with the previous-generation iPad mini.
The tablet runs iPadOS 27 and supports Apple Intelligence features, including capabilities associated with the next generation of Siri.
Availability can vary by language, region and feature, so users should check which AI tools are supported in their preferred language.
The 512GB configuration also includes a Dual 16-core Neural Engine, while the processor and graphics architecture are designed to handle more demanding on-device AI tasks.
Camera, Connectivity and Battery Features
Apple has positioned the 12MP front camera along the landscape edge, making it more convenient for video calls when the tablet is used horizontally.
The front camera supports Center Stage, which helps keep users in view during compatible video calls.
At the back, the tablet includes a 12MP camera with Smart HDR 4 and support for 4K video recording at up to 60 frames per second.
These features allow users to capture photographs and videos without relying on a separate camera for everyday use.
Connectivity has also been upgraded with Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0.
Cellular models include Apple’s C2 modem and support eSIM, while the redesigned Acoustic Display system aims to improve the audio experience.
The tablet supports fast charging, although buyers should check the charging accessories and specifications applicable to their chosen configuration.
Apple has not positioned this model as a replacement for every laptop, but its compact design and upgraded hardware make it suitable for mobile productivity.
Should You Consider the New iPad Mini?
The new tablet may appeal to students, professionals, travellers and digital artists who prefer a smaller device without sacrificing display quality or processing power.
Its OLED screen, A20 Pro chip, Apple Pencil compatibility and improved connectivity are among its main upgrades.
However, the starting price of ₹82,900 places it in the premium tablet segment.
Buyers should consider their storage requirements, whether they need cellular connectivity and whether the newer display and performance improvements justify the cost.
The device supports both Apple Pencil Pro, priced at ₹11,900, and Apple Pencil (USB-C), priced at ₹7,900.
These accessories are sold separately and can add to the overall purchase cost.
For people who mainly browse websites, read documents or stream videos, an older discounted tablet may still meet their needs.
Those who prioritise OLED picture quality, stronger AI performance and newer connectivity standards may find the latest model more appealing.
