Maruti Suzuki has made a significant move to boost the appeal of the Jimny by introducing the more affordable and stylish limited-run Thunder Edition.
Originally launched in May this year with a starting price of Rs 12.74 lakh (ex-showroom), the Jimny received feedback about being relatively expensive.
In response, Maruti Suzuki has unveiled the Thunder Edition, providing potential buyers with an opportunity to own the iconic SUV at a reduced cost.
Thunder Edition Pricing and Features:
The Thunder Edition of the Maruti Jimny comes with a starting price of Rs 10.74 lakh (ex-showroom), making it more budget-friendly by Rs 2 lakh compared to the regular Jimny.
Available across all four variants of the Jimny lineup, the Thunder Edition boasts special body decals, silver garnish on the front bumper, side door cladding, door visor, ORVMs, hood, and front/side fenders.
The cabin receives an uplift with an interior styling kit that includes floor mats (distinct for manual and automatic variants) and a tan-finished steering wheel.
Powertrain Unchanged:
Despite the price reduction, there are no changes in the powertrain of the Jimny Thunder Edition.
It retains the 1.5-litre K15B naturally aspirated petrol engine, generating 104 bhp and 134 Nm of torque.
The engine is paired with a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. All variants feature a 4×4 drivetrain with a low-range gearbox.
Cabin Features:
The cabin maintains the standard Jimny layout with features like a 9-inch touchscreen, cruise control, auto climate control, electronic stability program (ESP), reverse parking camera, and six airbags.
The Thunder Edition of the Maruti Jimny is expected to garner increased attention with its more accessible pricing and enhanced features, catering to a wider audience in the competitive SUV market.
