Maruti Suzuki is preparing to launch an upgraded version of its budget-friendly SUV, the Fronx, in the Indian market.
What makes this version special is that it will come equipped with a hybrid engine and advanced driver assistance features (ADAS)—something usually seen in more expensive cars.
The LIDAR sensor spotted on test vehicles has revealed that this SUV will include Level 2 ADAS, meaning it can offer features like lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, and possibly automatic emergency braking.
This is expected to boost safety and convenience for the driver.
Key Features and New Technology
Hybrid Engine: The new Fronx will feature Maruti’s 48V Super Ene-Charge hybrid system, which is designed to offer better fuel efficiency and lower emissions.
Design Changes: The SUV is likely to get minor updates in its design, including sharper headlamps and slightly redesigned bumpers to give it a modern look.
ADAS with LIDAR Sensor: The addition of a LIDAR sensor confirms the inclusion of Level 2 ADAS, which is a big step for a budget SUV in India.
Expected Launch Timeline
Although the company hasn’t announced the official launch date yet, sources suggest that the updated Maruti Suzuki Fronx could hit the market very soon.
This SUV is likely to compete with models like the Renault Kiger, Nissan Magnite, Citroen C3, and Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor, but will stand out because of its hybrid tech and ADAS features at an affordable price point.
