Markets to stay closed on Jan 26 due to Republic Day

Investors and traders will get one less trading day next week.

The stock market will remain closed on Monday, January 26, due to Republic Day.

This closure applies to both equity and commodity markets, meaning no buying or selling will take place.

The Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) will also be shut for both morning and evening sessions.

Normal trading will resume on Tuesday, January 27.

Stock Market Holidays in the First Half of 2026

According to the official NSE holiday calendar, the market will remain closed on several occasions throughout the year.

First half of 2026 closures:

March 3 – Holi

March 26 – Sri Rama Navami

March 31 – Sri Mahavir Jayanti

April 3 – Good Friday

April 14 – Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Jayanti

May 1 – Maharashtra Day

May 28 – Bakrid

June 26 – Muharram

Stock Market Holidays in the Second Half of 2026

The market will also remain closed for major festivals and national events in the latter half of the year:

September 14 – Ganesh Chaturthi

October 2 – Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti

October 20 – Dussehra

November 10 – Diwali Balipratipada

November 24 – Prakash Parv (Guru Nanak Jayanti)

December 25 – Christmas

In addition to these, the stock market is closed every Saturday and Sunday as part of the regular weekly schedule.
