Adding to the growing trend of visa-friendly initiatives, Malaysia has announced a significant move by offering visa on arrival to Indian citizens, aligning with the efforts of several countries to boost tourism.
Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has granted a 30-day free visa entry for citizens of India and China,
making it easier for travelers to explore the diverse attractions of Malaysia.
Visa-Free Entry from December 1:
Effective December 1, 2023, Indians and Chinese nationals can now enter Malaysia without the need for a visa.
This transformative decision aims to facilitate hassle-free travel, promoting tourism and enhancing Malaysia’s economic standing in the global landscape.
Travelers need to present a valid passport along with proof of return ticket and hotel booking to Malaysia Immigration.
Regional Trendsetter:
Malaysia joins the ranks of Thailand and Sri Lanka in offering visa-free entry or visa on arrival services to Indians.
Thailand, in a bid to attract more tourists, waived visa fees for Indians, effective until May 2024.
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka, as part of a pilot project, approved free visas for India, China, Russia, Malaysia, Japan, Indonesia, and Thailand until March 31, 2024.
Vietnam on the Horizon:
Adding to the excitement, there are speculations that Vietnam might soon grant visa-free entry to Indian travelers.
Presently, select European nations enjoy this privilege in Vietnam, and if implemented,
it would open up another enticing destination for Indian globetrotters.
