The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has made a big change for UPI users: you no longer need a PIN to make payments. From now on, payments can be authorized using fingerprint or Face ID.
This move will make UPI payments easier and faster, especially for senior citizens, and also reduce PIN-related fraud.
How to Enable Biometric Authentication
To start using fingerprint or Face ID for UPI payments, follow these simple steps:
Update your UPI app to the latest version.
Go to the Settings or Profile section of the app.
Look for the Biometric Authentication option.
Enable Face Unlock or Fingerprint Unlock.
Enter your UPI PIN once for confirmation.
After this, you’re ready to make payments without entering your PIN each time.
Making Payments Using Fingerprint or Face ID
