BHIM Services Limited, a part of NPCI, has introduced a new feature on the BHIM app called UPI Circle.
This feature is especially helpful for people who do not have their own bank account.
It allows a primary UPI user to add family members and authorize them to make payments up to a monthly limit of ₹15,000.
The permission can remain active for up to five years, making it a long-term and convenient option for many families.
How UPI Circle Helps Families
The feature is particularly beneficial for senior citizens, children, and people who are not comfortable using digital platforms.
Earlier, the primary UPI holder had to manually approve every payment.
But with the new full payment authorization, the added member can now make payments independently.
The primary user still has complete control.
They can see every transaction instantly on their phone, set monthly limits, and remove the person from their UPI Circle anytime.
This system also works well for small shopkeepers, household employees, and anyone who needs easy digital access without handling a full bank account.
How to Activate UPI Circle on the BHIM App
Activating the feature is simple:
Open the BHIM app.
Select UPI Circle, then tap Invite to Circle.
Enter the person’s mobile number, UPI ID, or scan their QR code.
Choose Full Delegation and select the relationship (child, spouse, employee, etc.).
Verify identity using Aadhaar or another valid document.
Set the monthly spending limit and time validity.
Choose the bank account and confirm the setup using your UPI PIN.
Important Points to Remember
A primary user can add up to five members to one UPI account.
A monthly limit of ₹15,000 can be set for each added member.
You can decide whether the added member needs your approval for payments.
