Mahila Samridhi Yojana: Delhi Govt May Restrict Rs 2,500 Withdrawal

Under the Mahila Samridhi Yojana, the Delhi government will provide financial support to women, but the full amount of ₹2,500 won’t be directly credited to their bank accounts.

Women will not be allowed to withdraw the entire ₹2,500 at once. The Delhi government is currently drafting new rules for this scheme, and official guidelines will be announced soon.

Rules for the Scheme Are Being Finalized

A ministerial group led by Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta will soon meet to finalize the plan. This scheme aims to provide financial empowerment to poor women in Delhi.

As per the scheme, eligible women will receive ₹2,500 each month. The scheme was approved by the cabinet on March 8, on Women’s Day.

The Chief Minister has also allocated ₹5,100 crore in the budget for this scheme’s implementation.

₹2,500 to Be Split in Two Parts

The monthly amount will be divided into two parts:

One part will go to the woman’s digital wallet.

The remaining will be deposited into a recurring deposit (RD) account.

This plan is aimed at encouraging savings, so women don’t spend the full amount every month.

The saved money can later be used for children’s education, marriage, or even employment opportunities.

Rules Will Be Relaxed in the Future

The Delhi government also plans to relax the eligibility criteria each year to ensure that more women benefit from the scheme.

An online portal will be launched soon, where women can register themselves for the scheme.

According to government sources, the Department of Women and Child Development has prepared a draft of the rules, which will soon be presented to the group of ministers.

Along with the Chief Minister, the group includes ministers Pravesh Verma, Ashish Sood, and Kapil Mishra.
