After several fraud cases in Maharashtra’s ‘Mazi Ladki Bahin’ scheme, the state government has started taking strict action.

Many ineligible women have already been removed from the beneficiary list.

Now, the government has issued a new order stating that women who fail to follow the rules may have their monthly payment of ₹1500 stopped.

According to the order issued on Thursday, all beneficiaries must complete e-KYC within the next 60 days (two months).

The scheme provides ₹1500 every month to women aged 21 to 65 years, whose family income does not exceed ₹2.5 lakh annually.

In her social media post, Tatkare mentioned that the e-KYC process is simple and convenient, and it will also help women avail benefits of other government schemes in the future.

According to official data, around 2.25 crore women are expected to benefit from this scheme, launched in July 2024.

How to Complete e-KYC

Visit the official portal of the scheme.

Click on the e-KYC option at the top.

Enter your Ladki Bahin registration number and captcha code.

Tick ‘I Agree’ to authorize Aadhaar verification.

Click on OTP and enter the OTP received on your mobile.

Fill in the required details and complete biometric verification.

Completing e-KYC is mandatory.

Payments Only After e-KYC

The government has made e-KYC compulsory due to the irregularities found in the scheme.

If a woman does not complete e-KYC within two months, her payment will be withheld and the case will be treated as fraudulent.

Minister Tatkare also confirmed on September 11 that the process of crediting the August installment into beneficiaries’ accounts has already begun.

Payments will soon reflect in their bank accounts.
