Why the Prices Went Up
Minister Hardeep Singh Puri explained that the price hike is a temporary measure and will be reviewed every 2 to 3 weeks.
He added that the government has increased excise duty, but it won’t affect petrol and diesel prices.
The extra revenue will help cover a loss of ₹43,000 crore that oil marketing companies faced on the gas front.
