KYV Verification Now Mandatory for FASTag Users

Everyone knows that using a FASTag is compulsory while traveling on highways. But did you know the government has introduced a new update?

To prevent FASTag-related fraud and ensure accurate identification of every vehicle, the government has now made it mandatory to complete not only KYC (Know Your Customer) but also KYV (Know Your Vehicle) verification.

If you don’t complete your vehicle’s KYV process, your FASTag may be deactivated, and you’ll have to pay toll charges in cash at toll plazas.

So, what exactly is KYV and why is it important? Let’s understand in detail.

What is KYV (Know Your Vehicle)?

KYV, or Know Your Vehicle, is a new verification system launched by the government to stop the misuse and fraud of FASTag.

Just like KYC confirms your identity, KYV verifies your vehicle’s identity and confirms that the FASTag belongs to the correct vehicle owner.

This helps ensure that a FASTag issued for one vehicle is not used on another, improving security and transparency.

Documents Required for KYV Verification

To complete the KYV process, you’ll need a few important documents:

A digital copy of your vehicle’s RC (Registration Certificate)

Vehicle Registration Number (VRN)

Chassis number

Details of the FASTag linked to your mobile number

Step-by-Step: How to Complete KYV from Your Mobile

Open your banking app or FASTag app.

In the search bar, type “KYV” or “FASTag Verification.”

Follow the on-screen instructions to start the process.

Upload clear photos of your vehicle from different angles.

One photo must clearly show the FASTag affixed to your windshield.

Upload a scanned copy of your RC.

After filling in all the details, click on Submit or Send.

The KYV process may take up to 7 days to be completed. You’ll receive an update via email or SMS, and you can also check the status directly through your banking or FASTag portal app.
