KTM has increased the prices of its popular bikes in India, especially the 390 lineup. This price hike comes at a time when the company is also preparing to launch a new 350cc version.
The price of the KTM 390 Duke has gone up by ₹40,000. Meanwhile, the KTM 390 Adventure X is now costlier by ₹17,000. Experts believe that prices of other 390cc bikes may also increase soon.
The main reason behind this hike is rising production costs and the company passing on the GST burden to customers.
New Price of 390 Adventure X
The KTM 390 Adventure X is designed for riders who like adventure-style bikes but do not need hardcore off-roading features.
Earlier, this bike was priced at ₹3.26 lakh. After the recent hike, its starting price has increased to ₹3.43 lakh.
Why Prices Are Increasing
Under GST rules, bikes above 350cc attract a higher tax rate of 40%. Until now, KTM was managing this extra cost on its own.
However, with the upcoming 350cc bike, the company now has more flexibility. Budget buyers can choose the cheaper 350cc model, allowing KTM to pass some cost to customers without hurting overall sales.
KTM vs Triumph Strategy
Triumph Motorcycles has also entered the segment with its 350cc range, which benefits from a lower GST rate of 18%.
But both brands are following different strategies. Triumph is focusing more on the 350cc platform, while KTM is expected to sell both 350cc and higher-capacity bikes together. This price hike will help create a clear gap between these segments.
Bigger Engine Upgrade Coming Soon
KTM may soon upgrade its 390 lineup to a more powerful 450cc engine setup.
This change is expected to start with the KTM RC 390 and later expand to other bikes. The company has already introduced a 450cc model in China in partnership with CFMoto.
For global markets, KTM is working on a completely new twin-cylinder engine platform.
Performance and Features of 390 Adventure X
The KTM 390 Adventure X comes with a 399cc single-cylinder engine. It delivers 46 PS power and 39 Nm torque, paired with a 6-speed gearbox.
The bike is built for smooth performance and better low-speed control. It gets a 19-inch front wheel and 17-inch rear wheel setup.
For braking, it uses a 320 mm front disc and a 240 mm rear disc. The suspension setup includes WP APEX USD forks at the front and a rear shock absorber.
