Various Janmashtami events have been taking place in Delhi since this morning (26 August). As a result, heavy crowds are expected on many roads, which could lead to traffic jams.
To manage this, the Delhi Traffic Police has issued an advisory to help handle the expected congestion.
Traffic Restrictions and Diversions
The advisory includes the following key points:
Road Closures: Several roads will be closed starting from 2 pm due to big events at Lakshmi Narayan Mandir (Kali Bari Marg), ISKCON Mandir (Amar Colony
and Dwarka Sector-13), Punjabi Bagh Janmashtami Park, Gufa Wala Mandir (Preet Vihar), Aadya Katyayani Shaktipeeth (Chhatarpur), and Santoshi Mata Mandir (Hari Nagar).
Mandir Lane Restrictions: Vehicle movement is banned on Mandir Lane from Gol Chakkar Shankar Road to Mandir Marg.
Buses traveling from Shivaji Stadium towards Mandir Marg will be redirected to Panchkuiyan Road or Gol Chakkar GPO.
Traffic diversions are also in place near Janmashtami Park in Punjabi Bagh. The following roads are advised to be avoided:
Mandir Marg, Kali Bari Marg, Baba Kharak Singh Marg, Bangla Sahib Marg, Gol Chakkar Gol Market, Gol Chakkar GPO, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Marg, and Peshwa Road.
Specific Road Restrictions: Vehicle movement is banned between Talkatora Stadium Roundabout
and Peshwa Road, as well as on Mandir Lane from Shankar Road intersection to Mandir Marg.
Pedestrian-Only Zones
Near the ISKCON temple, only pedestrians are allowed on the road between Captain Gaud Marg and Sant Nagar.
Vehicles should use Captain Gaud Marg and Outer Ring Road. Heavy vehicles coming from Okhla Metro Station towards ISKCON are being diverted from 8 am.
Vehicles coming from Outer Ring Road will be directed towards Modi Mill Flyover for Ashram Chowk.
