iPhone users May Need to Pay for ChatGPT Plus

Apple has introduced new Apple Intelligence (AI) features to select iPhone models, allowing users to start exploring them.

In addition to the features available after the iOS 18.1 update, more functions will be added with the upcoming iOS 18.2 update, as reported by Bloomberg.

However, there’s a catch—some advanced features may require a paid subscription.

ChatGPT-Enhanced Siri and Subscription Details

The new iOS 18.2 update, set to release on December 2, may include a Siri assistant powered by ChatGPT.

However, to unlock all ChatGPT features and fully use Apple Intelligence, users might need to subscribe to ChatGPT Plus at $20 per month (around Rs 1,950).

Although, some basic AI features will remain available without a subscription.

Subscription Option Available in Settings

According to 9to5Mac, after the iOS 18.2 update, users will have the option to subscribe to ChatGPT Plus directly from the Settings app on certain iPhone models.

Fortunately, features like Writing Tools and Image Playground do not require a ChatGPT Plus subscription, so paying isn’t necessary to access all AI features.

To subscribe, users can go to Settings, tap on “Apple Intelligence & Siri,” then select “ChatGPT.”

By tapping “Upgrade to ChatGPT Plus,” they can choose to subscribe. Alternatively, users can subscribe through the ChatGPT website.

While everyone will have limited access to ChatGPT, subscribing will provide a better Siri experience.

More Details Coming After the Update

Further information about ChatGPT-related changes will be available after the update is rolled out.

For now, Apple Intelligence features are available on the iPhone 16 series, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max models.
