Infosys, one of India’s biggest IT companies, has laid off 195 more trainees.
These trainees were part of a batch of 680, and they were dismissed because they failed to clear internal assessments.
According to a report by Moneycontrol, the trainees were informed about the layoff via email on April 29.
This is now the fourth round of trainee layoffs at Infosys since February 2025. So far, around 800 trainees have been let go.
Out of these, about 250 trainees have signed up for upskilling programs through upGrad and NIIT, and around 150 have registered for outplacement support.
What Support Is Infosys Offering?
Infosys has partnered with upGrad to offer training in Business Process Management (BPM) and with NIIT for IT-related upskilling.
The company is offering these training programs for free to the affected trainees, helping them prepare for other job opportunities.
What Was in the Email from Infosys?
In the email sent on April 29, Infosys said that the trainees were given extra preparation time, doubt-clearing sessions, mock assessments, and three chances to pass the internal Generic Foundation Training Program.
However, since they did not meet the required performance standards, the company has decided to end their apprenticeship.
What’s the Next Option for These Trainees?
Infosys has provided another opportunity for the laid-off trainees.
Those who are interested can enroll in a 12-week training program for a role in the Infosys BPM division. The company will cover the full cost of this training.
In addition, Infosys is offering:
One month’s ex-gratia payment (a financial goodwill payment)
A relieving letter, which is useful when applying for other jobs
For trainees who don’t opt for the BPM program:
Reimbursement for travel from Mysore to Bangalore and from Bangalore to their hometown
Access to stay at the Employee Care Center in Mysore until they are able to leave.
