IndiGo passengers who faced trouble during the airline’s recent operational crisis now have some relief to look forward to.

The airline has announced travel vouchers and cash compensation for affected passengers, aiming to make up for the inconvenience caused earlier this month.

IndiGo Announces Travel Vouchers and Compensation

Starting today, IndiGo will issue travel vouchers worth ₹10,000 to passengers who were impacted by the crisis during the first week of December.

These vouchers can be used to book any IndiGo flight and will remain valid for 12 months.

In addition to this, passengers whose flights were cancelled within 24 hours of the scheduled departure will receive compensation ranging between ₹5,000 and ₹10,000, as per aviation rules.

Refunds and Official Compensation Rules

IndiGo stated that refunds are being processed according to the guidelines set by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and the Union Ministry of Civil Aviation.

The refund amount depends on the block time of the flight.

The airline claims that refunds for cancelled flights have already been initiated.

Passengers who booked tickets through travel agents or online platforms are also covered under this process.

How Passengers Will Receive Their Vouchers

Travel vouchers will be issued to passengers from pre-identified flights.

From December 26, IndiGo teams will start contacting passengers whose details are already available in their system.

For those who booked tickets through travel agents, the airline is coordinating with partners to collect passenger contact information.

Once details are received, vouchers will be issued directly.

If a passenger cannot be contacted, IndiGo will launch a dedicated webpage from January 1, allowing affected travelers to submit their flight details and claim the benefit.

Millions Affected During the IndiGo Crisis

IndiGo acknowledged that a large number of passengers faced serious inconvenience between December 3 and December 5.

Many travelers were forced to wait for hours at airports due to flight disruptions.

The crisis began on December 2 and continued for nearly 10 days, impacting thousands of passengers across the country.

The airline has assured customers that any pending refunds will be credited soon.
