Indian Travelers can now Pay in Cambodia using UPI

Indian citizens can now make payments in Cambodia using the Unified Payments Interface (UPI).

This step comes after NPCI International partnered with Cambodia’s Acleda Bank, allowing seamless QR code payments between the two countries.

Cambodian citizens can also use their local payment apps to scan UPI QR codes and make payments in India, making cross-border transactions easier than ever.

Benefits for Travelers and Businesses

This new partnership offers major advantages:

For Indian travelers: Payments can be made instantly at over 4.5 million KHQR shops in Cambodia, reducing the need to carry cash.

For Cambodian travelers: Payments can be made using more than 709 million UPI QR codes in India.

Digital payments will be accepted at retail stores, hotels, restaurants, and tourist destinations, benefiting both merchants and tourists.

This will also boost trade and tourism between India and Cambodia.

Advancing Global Digital Payments

NPCI International says this collaboration will strengthen the digital payment corridor between India and Cambodia and offer reliable options for travelers.

Acleda Bank described it as a significant step for financial innovation in the ASEAN region, making cross-border payments secure and convenient.

With NPCI International providing technical support globally and Acleda Bank serving millions in Cambodia and neighboring countries, this initiative marks a major milestone in international digital payments.
