Great news for Indian Railways passengers! The chances of waiting tickets getting confirmed will improve as the railways prepare for a major expansion.
The government will add over 1,000 general class coaches to 370 regular trains.
This step has been taken because of the continuously rising number of passengers.
Big Announcements:
- Non-AC coaches on many trains have been increased.
- Around 600 general class coaches have been added in the last three months.
- 1,000 additional coaches will be added by November.
- Nearly 1 lakh passengers will benefit from these changes.
10,000 cans will be produced in the next two years
The railway press release provides several new updates. The construction of non-air-conditioned general class GS coaches for passengers is progressing rapidly.
Over the next two years, more than 10,000 coaches will be added to non-AC trains, with over 6,000 of them being general second-class coaches, and the rest being sleeper class.
This expansion will allow an additional 8 lakh passengers to travel in general class daily.
Central Railway also got big benefit
Central Railway will add 90 GS coaches to 42 trains, benefiting over 9,000 passengers.
Relief for Waiting List Passengers
Railways plans to add around 4,000 sleeper coaches, which is expected to reduce the long waiting lists for reservations.
What did the railway official say
Railway Board Executive Director, Dilip Kumar, has stated that the Railways is focused on improving facilities for passengers across all classes.
The newly developed non-AC coaches will be of the LHB type, which are lighter and stronger than the traditional ICF coaches.
