While new digital payment and tax rules have come into effect from today, April 1, 2026, there has been a major setback for premium fuel users.

Indian Oil Corporation has significantly increased the price of its highest-performance petrol, XP100. In Delhi, its price has now reached ₹160 per liter.

The price of XP100 petrol has been increased from ₹149 per liter to ₹160 per liter.

The country’s largest oil company, Indian Oil Corporation, has made a major hike in its premium petrol segment. Along with XP100, the company has also increased the price of its ‘Extra Green’ premium diesel to ₹92.99 per liter.

Before this, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited had also increased the price of its premium petrol by ₹2, taking it to ₹101.89 per liter.

What Makes XP100 Special?

XP100 is India’s first 100-octane fuel, specially designed for luxury and high-performance cars and superbikes. It provides more power and better pickup for high-end engines.

Compared to regular petrol, it helps improve engine efficiency and reduce friction. This is why owners of vehicles such as Ferrari, Lamborghini, and BMW often prefer this fuel for better performance and improved engine life.

Why Are Fuel Prices Increasing?

Although the company has not given any official reason for the price hike, market experts believe there are two main reasons behind it:

Iran-US conflict: The ongoing conflict in West Asia has created major volatility in the global crude oil market.

Higher logistics costs: Due to disruptions in supply chains near the conflict zone, transportation and logistics costs have increased significantly.

Commercial LPG and Jet Fuel Also Become Costlier

The price rise is not limited to premium petrol alone. Other fuels have also become more expensive.

The price of a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder has increased by more than ₹300 in recent days. In Delhi, it now costs ₹2,078.50.

Similarly, the price of aviation turbine fuel (ATF) has also gone up by 8.5%, reaching ₹1.04 lakh per kiloliter.

Relief for the Common Man

Despite the sharp increase in premium fuel prices, there is some relief for the general public.

The government reduced the excise duty on petrol and diesel by ₹10 per liter on March 27. Because of this, the prices of regular petrol and diesel remain stable for now.
