In September, India-Canada relations faced strain when Prime Minister Trudeau accused Indian agents of involvement in the killing of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar in British Columbia.

India, dismissing the allegations as absurd, had temporarily halted visa issuance to Canadian citizens and called for a reduction in diplomatic personnel.
