Road connectivity in the country is rapidly improving, with highways and expressways linking several states. However, drivers often face difficulties while paying toll tax during their travels.
To address this, the government has introduced major reforms to provide relief to commuters by making toll taxes free under specific conditions.
New Toll Tax Rules by NHAI
The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has announced new rules to help drivers avoid toll taxes in certain situations:
Delay at Toll Plaza: If a vehicle is stuck at a toll plaza for more than 10 seconds, the driver is exempted from paying toll tax. Additionally, drivers can report such delays to NHAI to get their exemption confirmed.
Long Queues: If the line at a toll plaza stretches beyond 100 meters, drivers can file a complaint with NHAI and avoid paying toll charges.
These changes aim to reduce waiting times and make highway travel smoother.
Relief in Other Situations
The government has also provided toll tax exemptions in additional cases:
Non-Functional Fastag Machines: If the Fastag system at the toll plaza is not working, drivers are not required to pay any toll charges.
These updated rules ensure that commuters are not unnecessarily burdened during their journeys, bringing much-needed relief and convenience to drivers across the country.
More Relief for Drivers
Other situations also offer toll tax exemptions. If the Fastag machine at a toll plaza is not functioning, drivers are not required to pay toll tax.
These new rules have brought great relief to travelers, making road journeys smoother and more convenient across the country.
