As November comes to a close, several important deadlines are approaching that taxpayers and pensioners should be aware of.

Missing these dates could impact pension payments, tax compliance, or other financial requirements.

Here’s a clear guide to help you stay on track.

 Unified Pension Scheme (UPS) Deadline

The Finance Ministry has extended the deadline for central government employees to opt for the Unified Pension Scheme (UPS) to November 30, 2025.

This gives employees two extra months from the earlier cutoff of September 30.

Under UPS:

Employees contribute 10% of basic salary and dearness allowance.

The government contributes 18.5%.

This is different from the old pension scheme, where retirees received 50% of their last basic pay as pension without making any contributions.

Pensioners Must Submit Life Certificates (Jeevan Pramaan)

Pensioners need to submit their life certificate between November 1 and 30 to continue receiving uninterrupted pension payments.

Senior citizens aged 80 and above can submit their certificate starting October 1, 2025.

The Digital Life Certificate (DLC), introduced by India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) in 2020, allows pensioners to generate Jeevan Pramaan using Aadhaar-enabled biometric authentication.

DLCs can be obtained through Jeevan Pramaan Centres, banks, government offices, CSCs, or via a PC/mobile/tablet.

This makes the process hassle-free and fast.

Tax-Related Deadlines

November 30 is also the last date for several important tax filings:

TDS challan-cum-statements for October 2025 under Sections 194-IA, 194-IB, 194M, and 194S.

Income Tax Return (ITR) filing for Assessment Year 2025–26 for taxpayers required to furnish reports under Section 92E (international or specified domestic transactions).

Form 3CEAA filings for constituent entities of international groups for the accounting year 2024–25.

Meeting these deadlines ensures compliance and avoids penalties.

Summary

November 30, 2025, is a crucial date for government employees, pensioners, and taxpayers. Key tasks include:

Opting for the Unified Pension Scheme

Submitting Digital Life Certificates for pensions

Filing TDS statements and ITRs

Staying aware of these deadlines helps ensure smooth financial transactions and uninterrupted benefits.
