The weather in many parts of India is currently unstable due to an active western disturbance and other weather systems.
The India Meteorological Department has issued alerts for several regions, warning of rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds.
Cities like Delhi, Noida, and Ghaziabad are already experiencing cloudy skies and light drizzle. The weather is expected to become more intense in the evening with heavy rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds.
Delhi-NCR Weather Alert: Heavy Rain Expected Tonight
In Delhi-NCR, light rain may begin in the afternoon and gradually increase in intensity. According to IMD, moderate to heavy rainfall is likely between 7 pm and 1 am.
Strong winds blowing at speeds of 30–40 km/h may also occur, and hailstorms are possible in some areas. This weather activity may bring down temperatures by 3–5°C, offering relief from the ongoing heat.
An orange alert has been issued for April 7, while a yellow alert will remain in place on April 8, indicating chances of light rain and cloudy conditions.
Weather Impact Across North and Other Regions
The impact of this system is not limited to Delhi-NCR. Several parts of North India, including Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand, are expected to receive rain and snowfall.
In Uttar Pradesh, light to moderate rain with thunderstorms and strong winds is likely. Eastern UP may see more intense rainfall activity.
Bihar and Jharkhand are also expected to experience thunderstorms, gusty winds, and occasional hailstorms. Farmers have been advised to take precautions to protect crops.
Rain and Storm Activity in Other Parts of India
Northeast India is likely to witness continuous rainfall and thunderstorms for the next few days. Some areas may even experience heavy rain during this period.
Central India, including Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, may also see scattered rain and hailstorms. Meanwhile, states like Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Karnataka will experience light to moderate rain with strong winds.
A new western disturbance is expected to become active around April 11, which could bring another spell of rain and snowfall to North India.
Temperature Drop and Weather Outlook
Due to these active weather systems, temperatures across many parts of India will remain below normal for the next few days. This will bring temporary relief from heat.
However, after this period, temperatures are expected to rise again gradually. People are advised to stay updated with official weather alerts and plan their activities accordingly, especially in areas prone to storms and hail.
