IMD warns of Rain and Fog Amid Severe Cold Wave

North India is already battling extreme cold and dense fog, and now the weather department has issued another alert that could make things more difficult.

According to the latest forecast, rain and a sharper cold wave are expected to affect several states on January 11.

People, especially children and senior citizens, have been advised to stay alert and take precautions.

Here’s a clear and easy breakdown of how the weather is likely to change across different states.

Cold Wave to Intensify Across North India

From January 11, cold conditions are expected to worsen in around 25 districts of North India.

In Uttar Pradesh, cities like Gorakhpur, Prayagraj, Ayodhya, Kanpur, Lucknow, Agra, Mathura, and Aligarh may see a further drop in temperature.

Delhi will also feel the chill, with strong morning winds adding to the cold.

In Punjab, severe cold is expected in Amritsar, Jalandhar, Patiala, Bathinda, and nearby areas.

Haryana’s Sonipat, Panipat, and Gurugram will also remain under cold wave conditions.

In Himachal Pradesh, temperatures in Shimla, Manali, Dharamshala, and Bilaspur are likely to stay below 5°C.

Delhi Weather Update: Fog and Falling Temperatures

Delhi may experience a cold wave on the morning of January 11.

Wind speeds could range between 5 to 10 km per hour, making the weather feel colder.

Dense fog is expected on major highways such as the Delhi-Dehradun, Delhi-Mumbai, Yamuna, and Delhi-Meerut expressways.

Drivers are advised to be extra careful.

The maximum temperature in Delhi is likely to be around 14–15°C, while the minimum could drop to 6°C.

Uttar Pradesh and Bihar: Sharp Drop in Temperature

Uttar Pradesh is likely to see a temperature drop of 2 to 3 degrees.

Cities including Lucknow, Kanpur, Prayagraj, Varanasi, Agra, and Bareilly may face cold wave conditions.

In Lucknow, the temperature may range between 17°C and 7–8°C.

Bihar will also see intensified cold, with temperatures falling by 3 to 4 degrees.

Cities like Patna, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga, Purnia, and Katihar will be affected.

In Patna, the maximum temperature is expected to stay around 16°C, while the minimum may touch 10°C.

Snowfall Warning in Himachal and Uttarakhand

Heavy snowfall is expected in Himachal Pradesh, especially in Kinnaur, Manali, Kullu, Lahaul-Spiti, and higher areas of Shimla.

Manali could see extremely low temperatures, with the minimum dropping close to -16°C.

Uttarakhand will also experience a sharp dip in temperatures. Cold conditions are expected in Haridwar, Chamoli, Uttarkashi, Tehri, and Rudraprayag.

Dehradun may record temperatures between 16°C and 6°C, while Nainital could go as low as 4°C.

Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh: Cold Winds and Fog

Rajasthan is expected to remain under a cold wave, with temperatures dropping below 5°C in cities like Jaipur, Alwar, Dausa, and Jaisalmer.

Strong winds may increase the chill, and light rain is possible in parts of Jaipur and Udaipur.

In Madhya Pradesh, severe cold is likely in Datia, Shivpuri, Rewa, and Sagar.

Dense fog warnings have been issued for Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior, and Jabalpur. Bhopal’s temperature may range between 23°C and 9°C.

Punjab: Severe Cold Continues

Punjab will continue to experience harsh winter conditions.

Cities like Amritsar, Ludhiana, Patiala, Bathinda, and Chandigarh may see temperatures drop by another 2 to 3 degrees.

Chandigarh’s temperature is expected to range between 16°C and 5°C.

With cold waves, fog, and snowfall affecting multiple states, it’s important to stay informed, avoid unnecessary travel during early mornings, and take extra care of health during the coming days.
