A new western disturbance is set to impact North India starting March 2. Due to this weather system, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand may experience scattered rain and snowfall.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast a drop in the minimum temperature in northwest India, while the maximum temperature is expected to gradually rise in the coming days.
Rain and Snowfall Expected in the Western Himalayan Region
According to the IMD, Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh are likely to witness light to moderate snowfall and rain between March 2 and 4.
Himachal Pradesh will experience similar weather conditions during the same period. In Uttarakhand, rain and snowfall are expected on March 3 and 4.
Temperature Fluctuations in North India
Over the last 24 hours, the western Himalayan region has recorded a drop of 3 to 6 degrees Celsius in maximum temperature.
Meanwhile, states like Punjab, Haryana, and Rajasthan have seen a rise of 2 to 4 degrees Celsius.
The IMD predicts that the maximum temperature in northwest India will increase by 4 to 6 degrees Celsius over the next 4 to 5 days.
However, the minimum temperature in the region may decrease by 3 to 5 degrees Celsius in the next two days.
Thunderstorms and Rain in the Northern Plains
On March 1, Haryana and Chandigarh may experience rain with strong winds. Light to moderate rainfall with lightning is expected in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Rajasthan.
Another western disturbance may bring scattered rains to Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh on March 3.
Heavy Rain and Hailstorm Alert for the Northeast
A cyclonic circulation over northeast Assam and Arunachal Pradesh may bring strong winds to Assam and Meghalaya on March 1.
Scattered thunderstorms are expected, while Arunachal Pradesh is likely to receive heavy rainfall. Isolated hailstorms may occur in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura.
