The rain in Delhi-NCR on Tuesday night (24 June) brought some relief from the heat by lowering the temperature, but it also increased humidity.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), rain is expected in Delhi till 30 June.
Although the sky was cloudy from Wednesday morning (25 June 2025), people still felt uncomfortable due to the high humidity.
Today, Delhi’s maximum temperature is expected to be 34°C and the minimum 28°C. Continuous rainfall is helping recharge the groundwater, but waterlogging has started causing traffic issues.
Environmental experts say Delhi needs to work seriously on saving rainwater to make the best use of the monsoon.
Heavy Rain Alert in 29 States
On 26 June 2025, a heavy rain alert has been issued in 29 states, with the most serious situation in Himachal Pradesh.
A cloudburst occurred near Dharamshala, close to the Lungta Power Project. This led to a disaster where 20 workers were swept away by strong water currents,
and 2 of them died. Around 15 to 20 workers were washed away in Manuni Khad.
An alert for very heavy rain has been issued in 11 states: Gujarat, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Coastal Karnataka, and Central Maharashtra.
Monsoon Brings Relief to UP and Bihar
The monsoon has reached Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert in many districts of Bihar, including Bhagalpur, Munger,
and Khagaria. Farmers are relieved, especially those growing paddy, as this weather is very helpful.
In western Uttar Pradesh, areas like Saharanpur, Moradabad, Bijnor, and Bareilly have received heavy rain with thunder and lightning.
Experts say if this rain continues for another 5–6 days, it will support the sowing of Kharif crops.
Rain Turns into Disaster in Kedarnath and Badrinath
In Uttarakhand, heavy rainfall has caused major problems in hilly regions, especially in places like Kedarnath, Badrinath, and Gangotri.
The risk of landslides has increased, affecting pilgrims and closing many routes.
The Uttarakhand government has placed security forces on travel routes and advised people to avoid non-essential travel.
NDRF and SDRF teams are actively working. The IMD has predicted heavy rain in these areas for the next 48 hours.
Rajasthan Gets Relief from Rain
Eastern Rajasthan districts like Kota, Bundi, Baran, and Jhalawar are receiving steady monsoon rains.
The IMD has forecast heavy rainfall in Bikaner and Jodhpur till 29 June. This is good news for a state that usually faces water shortages.
Water levels in reservoirs are rising, and farmers have begun preparing their fields. The Water Resources Department says that groundwater levels are improving this year.
Pleasant Weather in Kashmir Valley
On Wednesday (25 June 2025), the Kashmir Valley saw light rainfall, which made the weather more pleasant.
The night before, Srinagar recorded the hottest temperature of the month, but Wednesday’s rain brought relief.
The IMD says light to moderate rain will continue till Friday, and the sky will stay cloudy.
For tourists, this is a great time to visit Kashmir, though the administration has warned about possible landslides in some areas.
Flood Situation in Surat, Red Alert Issued
Surat city in Gujarat is facing flood-like conditions due to several days of heavy rain. Areas like Parvat, Simda, Pun, Limbayat,
and Pal are so waterlogged that daily life has come to a halt. The drainage system has collapsed.
Water has entered homes, shops, and even hospitals. The IMD has issued a red alert for the next 24 hours.
People are being asked to move to safer locations, and emergency helpline numbers have been activated.
