The weather in Delhi-NCR is currently pleasant, offering some relief from the heat.
However, this is expected to change as temperatures are set to rise significantly in the coming week, with a possibility of severe heat and heatstroke.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), residents should brace themselves for a hot spell, with both maximum and minimum temperatures seeing an upward trend.
IMD Issues Heatstroke Warning
The IMD has warned that people in Delhi-NCR could face intense heatstroke conditions this summer.
By March 27, temperatures could soar to a maximum of 37°C, with the minimum temperature expected to be around 19°C. Here’s the forecast for the coming days:
March 21: Clear skies with a maximum temperature of 34°C and a minimum of 17°C.
March 22: The temperature will reach 34°C maximum and 16°C minimum.
March 23: A high of 34°C and a low of 15°C.
Heat Intensifies from March 24
Starting March 24, temperatures will begin to rise sharply. The forecast indicates the following:
March 24: Maximum temperature of 36°C and a minimum of 16°C.
March 25: The maximum will reach 36°C, with a minimum of 18°C.
March 26: A high of 37°C and a low of 18°C.
March 27: Maximum temperature of 36°C and a minimum of 19°C.
Direct Sunlight and No Winds
In the coming days, there will be no relief from strong winds or cloud cover.
The IMD forecasts that the heat will be more intense as direct sunlight will affect residents without any cooling winds or cloud cover to provide respite.
The disturbance in the western regions is causing strong winds in the hilly areas, which is also affecting the plains of NCR, leading to higher temperatures.
Precautions
As the temperatures rise, it is crucial to stay hydrated, avoid direct exposure to the sun for extended periods, and take necessary precautions to prevent heatstroke.
Be prepared for the heat and plan your activities accordingly.
