ICICI Bank has announced several important changes for its credit card customers. These new rules will come into effect from 1 February 2026.

The changes will mainly affect users who frequently spend on movie tickets, transport, insurance, online gaming, and digital wallet recharges.

While a few benefits will continue, many popular features will either be discontinued, limited, or made more expensive. Customers should carefully understand these changes to avoid unexpected charges and loss of benefits.

Free Movie Ticket Benefit Discontinued

ICICI Bank has confirmed that the complimentary movie ticket benefit on BookMyShow will be stopped from 1 February 2026.

This free movie ticket or discount facility will be discontinued on the following cards:

ICICI Bank Instant Platinum Chip Credit Card

ICICI Bank Instant Platinum Credit Card

After this change, customers using these cards will no longer receive free or discounted movie tickets on BookMyShow. Movie ticket purchases will be treated as normal transactions without any special benefits.

New Limits on Reward Points for Transport Spending

ICICI Bank has introduced monthly caps on reward points for transport-related spending such as:

Cab services

Metro travel

Railway bookings

Other transport services

Premium Credit Cards

For premium cards like:

Rubyx

Sapphiro

Emeralde

Reward points will be earned only on spending up to ₹20,000 per month in the transport category.
Any spending above this limit will not earn reward points.

Regular and Mid-Segment Cards

For regular and mid-range cards:

Reward points will be earned only up to ₹10,000 per month on transport expenses.

Spending beyond this limit will not get any reward points.

This means heavy transport users will now get fewer reward points than before.

Relief on Insurance Payments

There is good news for users of the ICICI Bank HPCL Super Saver Credit Card.

Reward points will continue to be earned on insurance premium payments

The limit remains ₹40,000, the same as before

There is no reduction or new restriction in this category

So, insurance payments remain unchanged and customers will continue to get rewards as earlier.

Charges on Online Gaming Transactions

From 15 January 2026, online gaming transactions using ICICI credit cards will become more expensive.

If you add money to platforms such as:

Dream11

MPL

Rummy Culture

Other similar gaming apps

A 2% charge will be applied on every transaction.
This rule will also apply to new gaming platforms that may launch in the future.

This makes credit card usage for online gaming significantly costlier.

Higher Cost for Loading Digital Wallets

Using credit cards to load third-party wallets will now attract extra charges.

Wallets affected include:

Paytm

Amazon Pay

PhonePe

MobiKwik

Freecharge

OlaMoney

If you add ₹5,000 or more to these wallets using a credit card:

A 1% fee will be charged on the transaction amount

This will increase the cost of using credit cards for wallet recharges.

Extra Charges for High Transport Spending

If a customer spends more than ₹50,000 in a month in the transport category:

A 1% charge will be applied on the excess amount

This means high transport spenders will not only lose reward points but may also have to pay extra charges.

What Customers Should Understand

These new rules clearly show that ICICI Bank is:

Removing some old benefits (like free movie tickets)

Limiting reward points through spending caps

Increasing charges on digital and high-risk transactions (gaming, wallets, transport)
