In today’s digital world, almost every financial activity—from payments to investments—happens online.
While this brings convenience, it also increases the risk of online fraud, fake investment schemes, and scams promising high returns.
Unfortunately, many people lose years of savings chasing unrealistic profits.
But if your money is stuck in a fraudulent scheme, you don’t have to stay silent.
You can file a complaint directly with the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
How to Report Scams on the RBI Sachet Portal
The RBI’s Sachet Portal is an online platform where the public can report fraudulent investment schemes.
If a company promises unusually high returns, runs illegal chit funds, or operates without authorization, you can lodge a complaint here.
The portal helps protect people from fraud and ensures timely action.
Once a complaint is submitted, the RBI forwards it to the relevant authority, such as SEBI, the police, or other regulators.
Remember: any company claiming to double your money every month or guarantee 20–30% returns is likely a scam.
Step-by-Step Guide to Filing a Complaint
Visit the Sachet Portal: https://sachet.rbi.org.in
Click “File a Complaint” on the homepage.
Fill in the details of the company or scheme.
Mention how much money you invested.
If unsure about the regulator, select “Can’t find regulator.”
Enter your mobile number to receive updates via SMS.
After submitting, you will get a reference number to track your complaint online.
What Happens After You File a Complaint?
Once your complaint is received, the RBI forwards it to the appropriate authorities such as SEBI, IRDAI, state governments, or police departments.
The State Level Coordination Committee (SLCC) also helps process the complaint and ensure timely action.
Other Platforms to Report Fraud
If your case involves cyber fraud or online cheating, you can also report it on these platforms:
Cyber Crime Portal: https://cybercrime.gov.in
Toll-free Helpline: 1930
Chakshu Portal: For fake calls, SMS, or spam
This system makes it easier for people to take action against fraudulent schemes and protect their hard-earned money.
