The Unified Payments Interface (UPI) has transformed the way India pays, making digital transactions fast and easy.
Most people now rarely carry cash. However, UPI payments can fail if there’s poor network connectivity or a temporary bank server outage.
If you ever find yourself without an internet connection, you can still make payments using USSD-based offline UPI services.
Steps to Make Offline UPI Payments
Before starting, ensure your mobile number is linked to your bank account and that you have set up a UPI PIN through your bank’s app or website.
*Dial 99# on your phone.
This opens a menu that lets you access UPI services without the internet.
Select your bank account and choose the type of transaction you want to perform.
Enter the recipient’s details.
You can use their mobile number, UPI ID, or bank account number along with the IFSC code.
Enter the amount you want to send and your UPI PIN to complete the payment.
Important Things to Know
Each offline UPI transaction has a limit of Rs 5,000.
Every transaction charges Rs 0.50.
The service works 24/7, even on holidays.
It is compatible with all telecom networks and mobile phones.
Using this method, you can ensure payments are made even without an internet connection, making UPI truly reliable in every situation.
