In India, smartphone users commonly use UPI apps for payments. However, there are still many people in the country who don’t use smartphones.
They usually pay either in cash or with a card. Did you know that UPI payments can now be made without using apps or the internet?
In this scenario, the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has introduced the option for online payments without needing a smartphone or internet connection.
What is UPI?
The acronym “UPI” stands for Unified Payments Interface. It’s a digital and instant payment system created by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) and overseen by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
Interestingly, India leads globally in online payments, and many other countries have embraced the online payment platforms developed in India.
Transfer money without smartphone and internet
If you don’t have a smartphone or internet access on your phone, you can still make online payments using UPI123Pay.
This service allows UPI payments without needing internet connectivity.
To use UPI123Pay, your phone should have active USSD service, and your bank account should have sufficient funds.
It’s important to note that the UPI payment limit without internet is ₹ 2000 per transaction and ₹ 10000 per day.
