If you have been cheated while shopping online, booking travel tickets, or using any service, you don’t need to run to a court anymore.
The government’s National Consumer Helpline (NCH) is helping people get their money back quickly and for free.
A simple call to 1915 is enough to register your complaint and start the resolution process.
In just the last eight months, this helpline has helped consumers recover ₹45 crore.
The entire process happens before going to court, saving both time and money.
How the National Consumer Helpline Helps You
Once you call 1915, your complaint is officially recorded in the system.
The company involved is then contacted and held responsible for resolving the issue. Most cases are settled quickly without any legal hassle.
According to the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, the helpline resolved 67,265 complaints from 31 regions across India between April 25 and December 26, 2025.
This initiative is providing fast and easy solutions while also reducing the burden on consumer courts.
Where Did Most Refunds Come From?
E-commerce platforms accounted for the highest refunds, with around ₹32 crore returned to customers.
Travel and tourism services refunded about ₹3.5 crore.
Other major refund categories included agency services, electronic products, and airline bookings.
These numbers show that the helpline is especially effective for common issues faced in online purchases and travel services.
File Complaints in 17 Languages
One of the biggest reasons for the helpline’s success is its wide reach and easy access.
Consumers can register complaints in 17 different languages, making it user-friendly for people across the country.
Apart from calling 1915, complaints can also be filed through the INGRAM portal, WhatsApp, SMS, email, the NCH mobile app, the official website, and the Umang app.
With so many options available, getting justice as a consumer has never been easier.
