Honor has launched the MagicOS 9.0 update, based on Android 15, for its smartphones and tablets in China.
This update introduces new features, including a “Smart Capsule” similar to Apple’s Dynamic Island. Honor has confirmed that 36 devices will receive this update.
Along with new AI features, the update also includes a new animation engine, face swap detection, and an improved Turbo X system for better performance.

The public beta version of MagicOS 9.0 will be available from November 2024 to March 2025.
A total of 36 devices, including smartphones and tablets, will be compatible with this update. Here is the timeline for different devices:

Key Features of MagicOS 9.0
The MagicOS 9.0 update offers more than 20 customizable lock screen styles with 3D and anime elements.
The Smart Capsule feature provides real-time alerts for weather, face detection, and medical appointments without occupying the entire screen.
Honor has introduced a smoother animation engine for better interactions, such as switching apps or navigating the home screen.
The Turbo X engine has been upgraded to reduce power consumption by up to 40%.
AI-Powered Improvements
AI is a major highlight of the MagicOS 9.0 update. The face swap detection feature enhances security by protecting users from deepfakes during video calls.
Honor’s YOYO Agent, the AI assistant, can manage notifications, order drinks, and compare prices.
The MagicOS also includes AI-powered system apps such as AI Notes, AI Documents, and AI Translation.
The Magic Editor allows users to remove unwanted elements from photos, apply filters, and restore old images.
Additionally, the update features a Smart Fitness Coach for personalized workout plans and a Travel Assistant for accommodation and transportation recommendations.
Other notable features include dual device messaging, home and car integration, cross-device security, and a new visual search tool called Anydoor.
