Good news for Honda fans! Honda Motor has announced plans to launch 10 new cars in India by 2030, including seven SUVs.
These models aim to compete with rivals like Hyundai, Kia, Suzuki, and Toyota in the Indian market.
Honda’s Current Challenge
Honda currently has only three major models in India:
Elevate (mid-size SUV)
City (sedan)
Amaze (sedan)
Limited offerings and the declining demand for sedans have weakened Honda’s market share.
Even the Elevate hasn’t yet made a strong impact against competitors like the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. This makes the upcoming launches crucial for the brand.
Honda’s 2030 Strategy
Speaking at the Japan Mobility Show, Honda CEO Toshihiro Mibe revealed:
Honda plans to launch 10+ models in India by 2030.
Seven SUVs will be part of this lineup, catering to India’s growing SUV demand.
Some SUVs will be global models, while others will be India-specific.
Honda has also set up a special project team in India to focus on these launches, signaling the country as a key priority for the brand.
0 Series SUV: Launching in 2026
The 0 Series SUV will debut in India in 2026.
It shares some components with the Elevate.
It will be manufactured in India and exported to Japan and other Asian markets.
This move underscores India’s growing role as a global manufacturing and design hub for Honda.
Why SUVs Are Key
With SUV demand rising in India and competition from Chinese automakers increasing, Honda’s strategy is both timely and strategic.
The upcoming launches could help Honda reclaim market share and capture new growth opportunities in the Indian market.
