Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI), a major two-wheeler manufacturer, launched the electric version of its popular Activa scooter earlier this year.
Now, the running cost of this electric scooter has become more affordable, as the company has reduced the cost of its battery swap subscription.
HMSI recently announced on social media platform X that it has introduced a new battery swap subscription plan called ‘Lite’ for the Activa Electric.
The cost of this new plan is ₹678 (plus GST). Earlier, the lowest battery subscription plan was priced at ₹1,999 (plus GST).
Under the new Lite plan, users can swap up to 12 batteries per month. If someone exceeds this limit, they will be charged ₹180 per battery for every additional swap.
Why Are Activa Electric Sales Low?
Despite being a trusted brand, Activa Electric has seen low sales since its launch. One of the main reasons is the lack of a home charging option, which many electric scooter users look for.
The electric Activa has a different design from its petrol version. It comes with LED headlamps, turn indicators on both sides, and LED DRLs at the front.
The rear of the scooter displays the Activa e badge. The electric version has a swappable battery system placed under the seat, which includes two 1.5 kWh batteries.
Range and Features
The Activa Electric offers a range of around 102 km on a full charge. It comes with three riding modes – Standard, Sport, and Econ.
The scooter also features Honda RoadSync Duo, which allows riders to connect their smartphones via Bluetooth for calls and navigation.
In addition to the Activa Electric, Honda also launched the QC1 electric scooter, which looks similar. The QC1 has a 1.5 kWh battery pack and offers a range of about 80 km per charge.
Competition in the Market
Honda’s Activa Electric faces tough competition from other electric scooters in the Indian market, especially those from Ola Electric, TVS Motor, and Bajaj Auto.
