Home Guard Recruitment Now Online and District-Wise

People who are regularly employed in public, government, and semi-government services will no longer be able to apply for the recruitment of Home Guard volunteers for 44,000 posts in the state.

Earlier, such personnel were allowed to join as Home Guards. The Home Guard Department has sent a proposal to the government to make this change.

Once approved, employees in these sectors will no longer be eligible to apply to the Enrollment Board for Home Guard recruitment.

How the Enrollment Process Will Work

The enrollment process for Home Guard recruitment has been finalized. Applications will be accepted online, district-wise, based on the actual number of vacancies.

This will give lakhs of youth a chance to apply. According to the new rules prepared by the Home Guard Department, a central-level Enrollment Board will handle applications.

Criminal Cases and Disqualifications

Applicants must apply in the district where they live. Anyone with a pending criminal case in any court will not be eligible.

Additionally, anyone dismissed by the Central Government, a State Government, a local authority, or a corporation/body owned or controlled by them will also be barred from applying.

The Prestige of Serving as a Home Guard

Historically, joining the Home Guard was considered a prestigious service. Doctors, professors, lawyers, journalists,

and other service personnel were recruited for a short period to serve the public in uniform.

Earlier, volunteers could join up to the age of 50, allowing many to benefit from this opportunity.

However, due to complaints of corruption, this system began to be restricted, and the new regulations are now preparing to fully eliminate this old system.
