After trying out the new bike all over India, Royal Enfield has just shown the Himalayan 452 adventure motorcycle at a big motorcycle event in Milan called EICMA 2023.
People from around the world can now start booking the new Himalayan 450, and it will be ready to buy from November 24, 2023.
Even though Royal Enfield hasn’t told us the prices yet, they might do that soon. When it comes to India, this adventure bike will replace the Himalayan 411.
It will be competing with other bikes like KTM 390 Adventure (which costs between Rs 2.80 lakh and Rs 3.60 lakh) and BMW G 310 GS (which is priced at Rs 3.25 lakh).
The company that makes these bikes, Eicher Motors Limited (EML), says this new model is a big deal for Royal Enfield because it has their first-ever liquid-cooled engine.
The engine is a 451.65cc single-cylinder one that can make 40bhp of power at 8,000 rpm and 40 Nm of torque at 5,500 rpm.
It comes with a 6-speed gearbox and a special clutch called a slip-and-assist clutch.
The Managing Director of Eicher Motors Ltd., Siddhartha Lal, said, “We got great feedback for a bike built just for adventure trips.
That encouraged us to create a completely new Himalayan. This bike is made from scratch and is specifically designed for the Himalayas.”
This new Himalayan will have three versions and five color choices. It also has a fully digital TFT instrument cluster, smartphone connection, switchable ABS, and Google Maps built in.
The instrument panel connects with Bluetooth and has three riding modes: Eco, Performance with rear ABS, and Performance without rear ABS.
“We’ve designed the structure and the way you sit on it to make it perfect for adventure touring.
This is the one bike you need for anything, anywhere in the world; if it can handle the Himalayas, it can handle anything,” Lal added.
At EICMA 2023, Royal Enfield also showed off an electric bike called the Himalayan Electric Concept.
We don’t know all the details yet, but it seems like this e-bike is based on a new platform made with Stark Future.
There are two models in the works – one called L1A and the other L1K, with the first one expected to have the ‘Flying Flea’ name.
This electric concept bike looks a lot like the Himalayan 450, with a circular full-LED headlight, a big windshield, and a compact electric motor inside.
The CEO of Royal Enfield, B. Govindarajan, said, “This Electric Himalayan concept motorcycle is a result of our search for purpose and innovation, combining Royal Enfield design and character.
This bike is just a part of a bigger plan for sustainable exploration and adventure in the Himalayas.”
Royal Enfield said before that they want to launch their first electric bike in India in 2025.
They’ve set aside over Rs 1,000 crore for this fiscal year to work on products and sales for electric vehicles (EVs).
They’re even making a special assembly line that can build around 1.5 lakh EVs each year at their current factory in Vallam.
Later on, they plan to have a new facility in Cheyyar, Tamil Nadu, just for EVs.
