Heavy Rains and Humidity Trouble Many States

The last week of August has started, but the spell of rain is still going on in many states.

Some regions are facing heavy rainfall, while others are troubled by heat and humidity. Let’s look at the latest weather updates from Delhi to Chennai.

Weather in North India

Delhi-NCR

In Delhi-NCR, rainfall has slowed down. In recent days, there were light drizzles along with sunshine and clouds during the afternoon.

However, the chances of heavy rain are low. According to the Meteorological Department, light rain with thunder and lightning is possible at some places till 27 August.

Uttar Pradesh

On 23 August, rain with thunder and lightning is expected in many parts of western UP, while eastern UP may also get showers.

An alert for heavy rainfall has been issued for several districts in both regions.

Rajasthan and Haryana

From 23 to 26 August, heavy to very heavy rains are likely in Rajasthan and Haryana. Eastern Rajasthan may be affected the most on 23 and 24 August.

In Sawai Madhopur (Rajasthan), continuous heavy rains have disrupted life and created flood-like conditions.

A Red Alert has been issued for Chittorgarh and Bhilwara for 23 August.

An Orange Alert has been issued for 9–10 other districts.
In Jaipur, the Chief Minister has asked officials to remain alert regarding the worsening situation.

Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab are also expected to see rainfall, which will bring down the temperature.

Weather in Central and Eastern India

Rain is likely to continue for the next 6–7 days in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Odisha. On 23 August, heavy rainfall may occur in many areas.

Weather in West and South India

Gujarat and Maharashtra

Heavy rain with strong winds is expected in the coastal areas of Gujarat and Maharashtra for the coming days.

Southern States

Karnataka, Kerala, and Andhra Pradesh will witness rainfall between 26 and 28 August.

In Chennai, after heavy rainfall on Friday, light showers are expected till Saturday.

According to the Meteorological Department, these rains are due to atmospheric disturbances and may continue as light to moderate showers for the next 24 hours.

Weather in Uttarakhand

A heavy rainfall warning has been issued for 23 and 24 August in Uttarakhand.

The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rain at several places in the state for the next 7 days.

People are advised to:

Stay indoors as much as possible

Avoid taking shelter under trees or weak structures

Be careful in waterlogged areas

Refrain from unnecessary travel
