Rainfall is likely to intensify in Northwest, Northeast, Central, and Eastern India.

States such as Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh (both eastern and western parts), and Rajasthan are likely to get heavy rain on August 3 and 4.

Thunderstorms and lightning may also occur, increasing the risk of landslides, so extra caution is advised.

In Northeast India, very heavy rain is forecasted in Assam and Meghalaya on August 2.

Between August 1 and 6, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura will likely experience light to moderate,

and at some places, heavy rainfall. The rising river levels in these areas may lead to flood-like situations.

Eastern and Central States Also on Alert

States like Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha, and Chhattisgarh are expected to receive heavy rainfall from August 2 to 7.

In North Bengal and Sikkim, heavy rains may occur between August 2 and 4, and Bihar could see intense rain on August 2 and 3.

In the plains of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan, and Western Uttar Pradesh, there will be light to moderate rain over the next 5 to 7 days.

Thunderstorms with strong winds and lightning are also expected. People, especially farmers, should stay alert.

Rain Intensity May Reduce in South India

In contrast to the rest of the country, South India may see a drop in rainfall intensity.

States like Kerala, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu will continue to get light, scattered rains, but the major impact is likely to lessen.

Due to heavy rains in other regions, there is a risk of road blockages, waterlogging, overflowing rivers, and landslides, especially in hilly areas.

People are advised to travel carefully and follow local alerts. The IMD has also directed local administrations to be on standby.
