HDFC Bank, India’s largest private sector bank, has over 9,000 branches and 20,000 ATMs, serving millions of customers.
If you have an account with HDFC, there’s an important update: UPI services will be down on December 13.
All UPI transactions—including those via current and savings accounts, RuPay credit cards, and the HDFC mobile banking app—will be unavailable from 2:30 AM to 6:30 AM.
Merchant customers will also be affected during this downtime.
Why Is This Happening?
The bank has scheduled maintenance work to improve services, making them faster, safer, and more reliable.
Such maintenance is common among all banks, and customers are notified in advance.
HDFC Bank has also posted the downtime notice on its official website.
Plan Your Transactions Accordingly
Customers are advised to complete UPI transactions before or after the scheduled downtime.
Other banking services, like ATM cash withdrawals, credit card payments, RTGS, NEFT, IMPS, will continue to work as usual.
Since the downtime falls on a Sunday, branches will also remain closed.
More Scheduled Downtimes
UPI services will also be unavailable on December 21, from 2:30 AM to 6:30 AM.
Earlier, on December 10, prepaid cards, forex card loading, and instant reload services via net banking were down.
During that period, domestic ATMs, POS, e-commerce transactions, HDFC Bank POS, and payment gateways were also affected.
Customers are advised to plan ahead to avoid disruptions during these scheduled maintenance windows.
