The European country Greece is looking for foreign workers, especially in sectors like technology. To attract skilled people, it has announced new Tech and Talent visas for international workers, including Indians.
Along with this, the rules for the EU Blue Card have also been made simpler. The Greek government wants more highly skilled professionals to come and work in the country.
It also aims to make rules easier for local companies and employees. Keeping all this in mind, these new visas have been introduced.
These changes include new visas for Specialized Technical Personnel and updates to work permit rules. This will directly help foreign workers who are already working in Greece or planning to work there.
If you are thinking about getting a job in Europe, these new visa options in Greece could make things easier for you.
What is the Tech Visa?
The Tech Visa is for foreign workers who want to work in government-registered tech startups in Greece.
With this visa, workers can start their job immediately. However, there is one limitation — they cannot change jobs. The visa is linked to one company only and will expire once the job ends. So, this visa is valid only for working with that specific employer.
What is the Talent Visa?
The Talent Visa allows foreign workers to come to Greece and search for a job.
This visa is mainly given to people who have a master’s degree. Unlike the Tech Visa, it allows individuals to find a job instead of already having one. Once they get a job, they can apply for a work and residence permit.
Both the Tech Visa and Talent Visa are valid for 12 months. If all requirements are fulfilled, applicants can also apply for the EU Blue Card.
EU Blue Card Rules Made Easier
Greece has also relaxed the rules for the EU Blue Card.
Now, the validity of the Blue Card has been increased to three years, whereas earlier it was only two years. Another important change is in the renewal process.
Applicants can now apply for renewal up to three months after the card expires. Earlier, this was allowed only within one month.
