GPF Interest Rate Fixed at 7.1% for Govt Employees (Which Funds Are Covered)

General Provident Fund (GPF): The government has announced the interest rate on the General Provident Fund for the October–December 2025 quarter.

As per the latest notification, the interest rate remains unchanged at 7.1%, effective from October 1 to December 31, 2025.

The same rate applies to other provident funds as well. This is the same rate as the Public Provident Fund (PPF), which also earns 7.1% interest.

How much interest will you get on GPF?

According to the Department of Economic Affairs (DEA) under the Ministry of Finance, the government will continue paying 7.1% interest on GPF and similar provident funds during the October–December 2025 quarter. There has been no change in the rate this quarter.

  10. Armed Forces Personnel Provident Fund

What is the General Provident Fund?

The General Provident Fund (GPF) is a savings scheme available exclusively to central government employees.

Employees contribute a part of their salary to the fund every month, and on retirement, they receive the total savings along with interest.

The Finance Ministry reviews and revises the GPF interest rate every quarter and announces the new rate based on market conditions and government policy.
