PF Transfer Update: The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has introduced a new rule to make transferring your PF balance from an old employer to a new one much simpler.
Earlier, employees often faced delays and difficulties in moving their PF balance to their updated account when they switched jobs. With the new rules, the process has now become faster, more transparent, and seamless.
What has changed?
On September 18, the Union Labour Ministry issued a circular announcing new rules for PF transfer.
Until now, a key document called Annexure K was only shared between PF offices, and members could get it only on request. Now, employees can directly download Annexure K in PDF format from the EPFO Member Portal.
The ministry said: “With a view to enhance transparency and ensure greater convenience for PF members, the Transfer Certificate in Annexure K has now been made available for download in the Member Portal.”
This means members can now easily access Annexure K online without depending on PF offices.
What is Annexure K?
Annexure K is a transfer certificate issued by EPFO when an employee changes jobs. It ensures that PF accumulations and pension service details move safely to the new PF account.
This document contains:
Member details
PF balance with interest
Complete service history
Employment details including date of joining and exit
Current and past Member IDs
Earlier, when employees changed jobs, they had to submit Form 13 online for PF transfer. After approval, Annexure K was sent by the old PF office to the new one.
Now, employees themselves can view and download this document, which brings more clarity and control.
Benefits of the new PF transfer rule
Easy tracking of PF transfer applications online
Full transparency in the transfer process
Quick verification of PF balance and service history
Confirmation that details are correctly updated in the new PF account
How to download Annexure K from EPFO Member Portal
Log in to the EPFO Member Portal with your credentials
Go to Online Services
Select Track Claim Status
Click on Download Annexure K
Save the file for your records
With this reform, employees changing jobs will now have a much smoother and more reliable PF transfer experience.
