The goal of this service is to take quick action against cyber criminals and reduce the time needed for investigations.

By turning big online fraud complaints into FIRs automatically, the process becomes faster and more efficient.

Now, if a cyber financial fraud of over ₹10 lakh is reported through the 1930 helpline or the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (NCRP), it will automatically become an FIR.

This new system, called e-Zero FIR, is currently being tested in Delhi. Home Minister Amit Shah said this system will make quick investigation and action possible, helping in catching the criminals faster. The plan is to roll it out across the country soon.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the Home Minister said the Modi government is working fast to create a cyber-safe India. He added that this new system will play a key role in stopping cyber crimes.

What is e-Zero FIR?

An official explained that fraud complaints over ₹10 lakh made on the 1930 helpline or NCRP will now be automatically converted into a zero FIR.

This FIR will first be registered at the Delhi e-Crime police station, and then sent to the cyber police station in the area where the crime happened.

The person who filed the complaint must visit the concerned cyber police station within three days to turn the zero FIR into a regular FIR.

This system connects the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C), Delhi Police’s e-FIR platform, and the NCRB’s Crime and Criminal Tracking Network.

Legal Basis

This system has been launched under Section 173(1) and 1(ii) of the Indian Civil Security Code.

Delhi Police and I4C developed this system together to help victims get their money back faster and ensure strict punishment for the guilty.

Benefits of e-Zero FIR

  • Filing a complaint becomes easier
  • FIR is registered immediately
  • Increases chances of recovering lost money
  • Quick action against cyber criminals.
