Govt departments to use Zoho for all official documents

In a major move to boost India’s digital independence, the Ministry of Education has announced that all its departments will now use the Zoho Office Suite for creating, editing, and sharing official documents.

The decision is part of the government’s Atmanirbhar Bharat mission, which encourages the use of homegrown technology instead of relying on foreign software.

Why the Shift to Zoho Matters

According to a memorandum from the Department of Higher Education, this change is more than just a software update.

It’s a strategic step to strengthen India’s product-driven economy.

All officials and staff under the ministry must now work with Zoho’s tools.

Building Digital Sovereignty

Officials describe this move as a bold step towards creating a secure and self-reliant IT ecosystem.

By using Zoho, the ministry not only improves data security but also supports local innovation and reduces dependency on imported software.

This shift places India on a stronger footing in the global digital economy.

Official Circular

The directive has been officially signed by Nishant Upadhyaya, Under Secretary to the Government of India, and circulated to senior officials, including secretaries to the Education Minister and Ministers of State.
