In a welcome move just before the New Year, the government has announced a significant reduction in the price of the 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder.
The price cut amounts to Rs 39, bringing relief to consumers who utilize larger cylinders for commercial purposes.
The previous rates for the commercial cylinder were Rs 1796.50 in Delhi, Rs 1749 in Mumbai, Rs 1908 in Kolkata, and Rs 1968.50 in Chennai.
New Price Structure Unveiled
The revised prices now stand at Rs 1757.50 in Delhi, Rs 1869 in Kolkata, Rs 1710 in Mumbai, and Rs 1929.50 in Chennai for a 19 kg commercial cylinder.
This reduction comes just in time for the Christmas festival and New Year celebrations, providing a positive note for consumers.
Households Not Included in the Relief
While the reduction in prices brings relief to those using 19 kg commercial cylinders, it’s essential to note that there has been no corresponding decrease in the rates of 14 kg LPG cylinders commonly used by households.
The government’s focus on larger cylinders indicates a targeted approach in providing relief.

Oil marketing companies have implemented this discount ahead of schedule, benefiting consumers before the official festivities begin.
To check the updated rates in your city, you can visit the official website of Indane. The reduction in prices comes following a change on December 1, with a prior discount of Rs 57 on November 16.
Fluctuating Prices: Monthly Changes in Commercial LPG Cylinder Rates
The prices of commercial LPG cylinders have been subject to frequent fluctuations over the past few months, with changes occurring almost every month.
In contrast, the rates for domestic LPG cylinders have remained unchanged since August. The last reduction in the price of domestic LPG cylinders, amounting to Rs 200, took place on August 30, 2023.
Current Domestic LPG Rates
As per the latest data from the Indian Oil website, the price of a domestic LPG cylinder is Rs 903 in Delhi, Rs 929 in Kolkata, and Rs 902.50 in Mumbai.
Consumers can anticipate stable rates in this segment, at least until the next monthly review.
