Government Introduces FASTag ‘Gifting’ Feature for Diwali

The Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has announced a special Diwali update for highway travelers. You can now buy and gift a FASTag Annual Pass to someone else.

This new feature has been launched for last-minute Diwali shoppers who want to give their loved ones the gift of convenient and cost-effective travel.

This facility is available on the RajmargYatra app, developed by the government.

How to Gift a FASTag Annual Pass:

Open the RajmargYatra app and enter the recipient’s vehicle details and contact information.

Make the payment through UPI, credit/debit card, or online banking.

Once the recipient completes the OTP and vehicle verification process, the pass will be activated on their existing FASTag account within two hours.

This feature can also help families who share the same vehicle, making travel management easier.

Details About the FASTag Annual Pass

The FASTag Annual Pass was launched on August 15 this year and is designed for people who frequently travel long distances.

Price and Validity: ₹3,000 for one calendar year or 200 toll crossings, whichever comes first.

Savings: If all 200 trips are used within a year, the average cost per toll crossing is just ₹15, offering great savings to regular travelers.

Usage: The pass is valid only for privately owned vehicles.

According to NHAI, over 25 lakh users have already purchased the pass since its launch, resulting in more than 5.67 crore transactions in just two months.

Important Points to Remember

Where to Buy: Available through the Highway Yatra App or NHAI website.

Toll Validity: Applicable at around 1,150 toll collection points managed by NHAI.

Other Tolls: Regular FASTag charges will apply at non-eligible tolls, such as expressways, state highways, or parking areas.

Non-Transferable: Once activated, the Annual Pass cannot be transferred to another FASTag account.
