The Government of India has made its digital legal support platform Nyay Setu available for WhatsApp users. On Thursday, the Ministry of Law and Justice announced that citizens can now access Nyay Setu directly through WhatsApp.
The main aim of this platform is to provide free legal help and guidance to people in an easy and quick way.
With this new update, users no longer need to visit offices or go through complicated procedures. Legal advice can now be received directly through a chat on WhatsApp.
What Is Nyay Setu?
Nyay Setu is a digital initiative launched by the Government of India in August 2024. Its purpose is to improve access to legal aid for citizens across the country.
The platform helps people get immediate legal guidance without dealing with complex legal processes.
According to the Ministry of Law and Justice, the WhatsApp integration ensures that professional legal assistance is easily
and quickly available to every citizen. This announcement was also shared through an official post on X (formerly Twitter).
Legal Help Made Easier Through WhatsApp
Nyay Setu uses the popularity and simplicity of WhatsApp to connect citizens with legal resources. Since WhatsApp is widely used across India, this move removes many common barriers to legal help.
People can now get basic legal information and guidance without physically visiting legal offices.
This makes legal assistance more accessible, especially for those living in remote areas or those who find traditional legal processes difficult.
How to Use Nyay Setu on WhatsApp
To access Nyay Setu on WhatsApp, users need to send a message to 7217711814. On WhatsApp, this number appears as “Tele-Law.” After sending a message, users will get options related to legal advice, legal information, and legal assistance.
The Nyay Setu chatbot first asks users to verify their mobile number. Once the verification is complete, legal advice can be received through chat. During testing, the chatbot faced an error while verifying the mobile number.
Availability and Current Status
Even if mobile number verification fails, users can still access legal information and assistance through the Nyay Setu WhatsApp chatbot.
The service is available to all WhatsApp users in India and works on Android, iOS, and web platforms.
The Government of India has officially confirmed this update through a tweet, highlighting its commitment to making legal support more accessible to citizens.
