The use of artificial intelligence (AI) is growing rapidly, and its impact can now be seen clearly in online advertising. To improve transparency, Google has introduced a new feature on its advertising platform.
The company will now show an AI label on ads that have been created or edited using AI.
The main purpose of this feature is to let users know whether the ad they are viewing has been made or modified with the help of AI.
AI Labels Now Available Across Google Platforms
Google has started displaying the new AI label on ads shown on Google Search, YouTube, and Google Discover.
Users will be able to check whether an ad was created using Google’s generative AI tools or edited with AI. The company believes this is an important step towards making online advertising more transparent.

How to Check If an Ad Was Made Using AI
Users can click the three-dot (⋮) menu or the Info icon next to an advertisement to open My Ad Center.
There, a new section called “How this ad was made” will appear. If the ad was created or edited using AI, users will see a label that says “Created or edited with AI.”
In some regions, this label may also be displayed directly alongside the advertisement.
Google AI vs Third-Party AI Tools
Google has explained that ads created using the company’s own AI tools will automatically receive the AI label.
However, if advertisers use third-party AI tools such as Midjourney, DALL·E, or other AI platforms, they will have to disclose this information themselves.
This means that, for now, Google cannot automatically identify every ad created with external AI tools.

How This Will Benefit Users
With this new feature, users will be able to understand whether an advertisement was created entirely by humans or with the help of AI.
As AI-generated images, videos, and other content continue to increase, this feature will give users more clarity and help them make better-informed decisions about the ads they see.
It is worth noting that the number of AI-generated photos, videos, and advertisements has grown rapidly in recent months. Because of this, major technology companies are introducing new ways to identify AI-generated content.
Meta already shows AI-related information on some advertisements, and Google’s latest move is seen as another important step in improving transparency.
