Online fraudsters are constantly changing their tactics, and text messages remain one of their most effective tools.
To tackle this issue, Google has updated its Circle to Search feature for Android users, helping them identify suspicious messages before any damage is done.
Why Scam Messages Are Hard to Identify
Scam messages often appear as fake bank alerts or warnings about account suspension. These messages are designed to create panic so that users quickly click on links or share personal details.
Even though many people know the common signs of scams, these messages have become so realistic that it is often difficult to tell the difference between genuine and fake messages at first glance.
New Safety Feature in Circle to Search
To deal with this growing problem, Google has made Circle to Search smarter on Android devices. The biggest advantage of this feature is that users can check whether a message or link is suspicious without clicking on it or replying.
To use Circle to Search, users simply need to long-press the Home button or the navigation bar and then circle the suspicious message on the screen.
Google’s system instantly analyzes the text using artificial intelligence and online information. Within seconds, it tells the user whether the message could be a scam.
Learn and Stay Alert
This feature does more than just issue a warning. It also explains why a message looks suspicious, helping users become more aware and confident in spotting similar scam messages in the future.
Alternative Option: Use Google Lens
If Circle to Search is not available on your phone, Google Lens can be used as an alternative. By taking a screenshot of the suspicious message and scanning it with Google Lens, users can still get helpful information and warnings about possible scams.
